How to clear your cache

Clearing your browser cache can resolve loading or formatting issues on websites by removing outdated or corrupted files. Below we have provided the steps on how to clear your cache for Windows and Mac for each web browser type.

Google Chrome

On Desktop (Windows/Mac):

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.

  3. Go to More tools > Clear browsing data.

  4. In the pop-up window:

  • Choose a time range (e.g., "Last hour", "Last 24 hours", "All time").

  • Check "Cached images and files" (you can also check other items like browsing history or cookies if needed).

  1. Click Clear data.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to open the Clear Browsing Data window directly.

Safari

On macOS (Safari on Mac):

Option 1: Clear Only the Cache (Developer Menu)

  1. Open Safari.

  2. In the top menu bar, click Safari > Settings (or Preferences on older versions).

  3. Go to the Advanced tab.

  4. Check the box at the bottom that says "Show Develop menu in menu bar."

  5. Close settings, then go to the top menu and click Develop > Empty Caches.

Option 2: Clear Cache, History, and Cookies

  1. Click Safari > Clear History... from the top menu.

  2. Choose a time range (e.g., "all history") and click Clear History.

Note: This method clears browsing history and cookies along with cache.

Microsoft Edge

On Desktop (Windows/Mac):

Option 1: Using the Menu

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner.

  3. Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services.

  4. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.

  5. Select a Time range (e.g., “Last hour” or “All time”).

  6. Check the box for Cached images and files.

  7. Click Clear now.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to open the Clear browsing data window quickly.

Arc

Clearing Cache for All Profiles

  1. Open Arc Settings:

  • On macOS: Click Arc in the top menu bar and select Settings, or press Command +

  • On Windows: Click the Arc menu in the top-left corner and choose Settings, or press Ctrl +

  1. Access Profile Settings:

  • In the Settings window, navigate to the Profiles section.

  • Select the profile for which you want to clear the browsing data.

  1. Clear Browsing Data:

  • Click on Clear Browsing Data. This will open the Chromium settings for clearing browsing data.

  • In the Time Range dropdown, select All time.

  • Check the boxes for Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.

  • Click Delete Data to clear the selected data

Clearing Cache for a Specific Site

  1. Open Site Controls:

  • Navigate to the website for which you want to clear the cache.

  • Click the Site Control Icon (the 'i' or lock icon) in the URL bar.

  1. Access Site Settings:

  • Click the three-dot menu in the bottom-right corner of the Site Control menu.

  • Choose Clear Cache or Clear Cookies depending on your needs.

Shortcut: Press Command + T to open a new tab. Type Clear Cache and Refresh or Clear Cookies and Refresh in the command bar and press Enter.

Firefox

On Desktop (Windows/Mac):

Option 1: Clear Cache Manually

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines ≡ in the top-right corner).

  3. Go to Settings (or Preferences on macOS).

  4. Click on Privacy & Security in the left panel.

  5. Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section.

  6. Click Clear Data…

  7. Check Cached Web Content (you can also select Cookies if desired).

  8. Click Clear.

Option 2: Use a Shortcut

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac) to bring up the Clear Recent History dialog.

  2. Choose a Time range to clear (e.g., “Everything”).

  3. Expand Details and check Cache.

  4. Click OK
