8seats gives you 3 innovative ways to chat – but are you sure which is the best to use? Here's a quick guide to point you in the right direction and get the best experience for you and your team.
Tables are the heart of 8seats. Choose a Table for a team or group of people that you work with frequently. It might be your team at work, or a group of people who are focused on a project. Tables enable you to have one place for all your team and project conversations. Tables are powered by dynamic chat, allowing you to have relevant conversations with just the team or project members who need to be involved.
Choose a Room when you have a larger group of people. Did you know that a Room on 8seats can support up to 10,000 members? Rooms are also a good choice for an all-team chat or a company announcements channel where it's less common to jump into a sub-group like you would in a Table.
Just need to send a quick message? A DM could be your best bet. It's fast to get chatting and might be the best option for a conversation that won't be one that you and your team keep coming back to often. DMs can be given subject lines, which is handy to keep things organised and find them again later. A good guide to remember is that if you would normally have sent an email – a DM on 8seats is a better choice.
If you're in a DM and need to have a side conversation that doesn't involve everyone, you can simply tap the heads up or down to jump to a conversation with those people inside the same DM. Just like a Table! You'll notice that DMs have a little forked icon to indicate if that DM has sub-conversations inside it.
You can access extra options for a message with a long hold on that message. You can copy the image or text to the clipboard, share the message to another app if you need – or if you make a mistake, you can delete a message. Note that you are only able to delete your own messages.
On a Table and just want to speak to one person? Did you know that you can simply long hold on their head to solo that person – easier and faster than tapping all the other heads down.
On the web version of 8seats for desktop, you can open an extra chat columns by clicking the + button on the right hand side. You can simulataneously view different conversations on the same Table, or different Tables, Rooms and DMs – so you can get even more stuff done!
8seats is free to get started for teams and individuals.
