Just upgraded to the latest version of 8seats? We suggest that you sign out of your account and back in again to get the best experience. Simply tap the profile icon on the top left of the screen, scroll to the bottom of the menu, then tap "Sign out on this device".
The new major release of 8seats includes a range of enhancements, including:
Lightning speed with major speed improvements.
Video and image upgrades – Smoother media sharing with image & video performance upgrades.
Open invite links – Invite colleagues to Rooms and workspaces with just a link.
Multiple file uploads – More powerful file management allowing many images & videos to be uploaded at the same time.
Drag & drop files (desktop app) – Simply drop whatever you like from your desktop computer into the 8seats chat.
Various bug fixes.
Please note that to get the new version 0.7.0 app with all these features, you'll need to update your app by downloading the latest version from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android.
The split panel view feature on the web/desktop app is temporarily disabled, but it will be back shortly!

We’ve improved the look and feel of DMs to make it easier to distinguish between DMs and group chats.Now you can add up to 20 members to a table, allowing for larger teams and more dynamic conversations. We’ve added functionality for users to leave a table or for users to remove users, giving you more flexibility in managing your tables.

We have integrated Over-The-Air (OTA) updates into the app, allowing for seamless and automatic updates directly on your device. This feature ensures you always have the latest version of the app without the need for manual installations.

We've added a powerful search functionality to help you easily find specific messages. The Room user limit has been significantly increased to 10,000 members, allowing for even larger communities. In this update, we've prioritized application performance and stability to enhance your overall experience. We’ve resolved a number of key bugs, ensuring smoother operation and reducing unexpected crashes. These improvements make the app more reliable and responsive allowing you to message your friends even faster.
Re-architectured the application frontend for enchanced performance.
We've added support for sending videos and renamed "Quick Chats" to "DMs" for a more familiar experience. U.S. users can now log in using their mobile numbers and one-time passwords. Additionally, we've introduced the ability to reset your local data, giving you more control over your app's storage and settings. Lastly we have tackled a large number of performance related bugs.

We’ve upgraded Tables with a new feature that allows you to message everyone you invite immediately. And yes, that even means you can message people before they have joined 8seats. Any messages you send will be ready and waiting for them once they’ve joined your Table. We’ve also made some optimisations and squashed some bugs.
Table members can now be sent messages as soon as they have been invited to the Table, this includes both invitees who are who haven’t joined 8seats as well as existing users.
When starting a Quick Chat, you can now invite someone new as well as from your Directory.
The app now shows a message if you are attempting to open the app without an active internet connection.

We’ve made a quick update to the app. If messages are sent while you don’t have an active internet connection, they are stored on your device and sent once you have an internet connection again. These saved messages are now still sent – even if you have signed in and out of your account.

The iOS app icon badge is now shown if the are unread messages.
We’ve increased the number of Tables and Rooms you can create, and upped the maximum size of Quick Chats to 8. Plus, you can also now easily share messages to other apps, or copy message text to the clipboard. Simply long hold on a message to see these new options.

We’ve made some significant performance enhancements for conversations across Tables, Rooms and Quick Chats. We’ve resolved some core issues where conversations could fail to load, and have applied better management of larger numbers of messages and conversations. The messaging experience is now faster and snappier with less delays in loading messages. We’ve also fixed a number of bugs, made some small improvements to some features – plus added a bunch of new background images for you to customise your Tables and Rooms.

We’ve fixed some bugs and made a some quick improvements to the chat view. We have fixed some issues that occurred on Android devices, including missing notifications and bugs with taking photos. This version also enhances the experience for invites, including adding better ways to share your invite links with others.

Tables offer natural conversations for small and effective teams of up to 8 people. Connect and collaborate faster, powered by our unique dynamic chat system. Simply tap or swipe to get to any conversation or sub-group fast, no more endless lists of groups!
While Tables are perfect for small and effective team collaboration, Rooms are there for when you need to communicate with more than 8 people. It supports up to 1,000 members, with support for even bigger groups coming in the future.
Quick Chats give you all the simplicity and speed of email combined with the power of dynamic chat. You can create as many Quick Chats as you need, they're best for small groups and short, sharp tasks – to quickly communicate with your team and get it (whatever it is!) done.
We added 256-bit encryption to protect your privacy. Messages and personally identifiable information is now stored encrypted at rest on our servers. This is on top of the existing encryption of all 8seats data in transit.
We’ve made a number of enhancements to the invites experience:
You can now view all of your received & sent invites for Tables and Rooms. Access these by simply tapping on the envelope icon in the top right corner on any of the main screens. You also access your invites from the main menu.
You can now accept or decline invites that you receive for Tables and Rooms.
It’s now easy to choose people to invite from your directory. Plus you can also invite multiple people in one go.
There are a some known issues we are aware of in the current version of the app. The team are working as fast to resolve these as soon as possible to ensure your 8seats experience will be a great one.
