Having issues with the 8seats app or your account? There are a few things you can try to help resolve an issue you may be experiencing.

SMS now restored for New Zealand customers

Issue: I got signed out of the app unexpectedly

There is a known issue affecting some users which causes the app to periodically sign out. We’re working on a solution to this and will have it resolved as quickly as possible.

What to do:

  • Ensure that you have an active internet connection – follow the steps here if you need.

  • If you have been signed out of the app, you will need to sign back in to your account:

    • Tap the “Sign in” button.

    • Sign in using your mobile phone number.

    • Enter the one time password you receive via SMS to access your account.

  • Please also ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed.

Issue: The app crashed

If the app crashed, this may be caused by a variety of possible reasons. Our team reviews app crash reports regularly to help identify and resolve issues – and we frequently release updates to the app with new improvements and the latest fixes.

What to do

  • Ensure that you have an active internet connection – follow the steps here if you need.

  • If you’re using the mobile app, close the app completely and restart the app on your device.

  • If you’re using the app in your web browser, refresh your browser (usually by pressing Ctrl + R on Windows/Linux, or Command + R on Mac).

  • In some cases, you may need to sign back in to your 8seats account.

  • Please ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed.

Issue: The app is stuck on the loading screen

If the app gets stuck on the loading screen (with the animated infinity symbol), it may be because some data has not loaded correctly for your account. Usually this will simply resolve itself by restarting the app.

What to do:

  • Ensure that you have an active internet connection – follow the steps here if you need.

  • If you’re using the mobile app, close the app completely and restart the app on your device.

  • If you’re using the app in your web browser, refresh your browser (usually by pressing Ctrl + R on Windows/Linux, or Command + R on Mac).

  • Please also ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed.

Troubleshooting tips

For other issues you may encounter, there are a few things you can try to help resolve the problem you are experiencing.

We suggest trying these 4 solutions, in this order, until one of them helps to resolve the issue:

  1. First, check your internet connection.

  2. Next, restart the 8seats app.

  3. Next, sign out, then sign back in to your account.

  4. Finally, try re-installing the 8seats app.

Solution 1: Check your internet connection

On iOS devices

  1. Settings check:

    • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

    • Scroll down and tap on Wi-Fi or Mobile depending on your connection type.

    • Check if the Wi-Fi or Mobile data switch is turned on and connected to a network.

  2. Control center check:

    • Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center.

    • Look for the Wi-Fi, Mobile, or Airplane Mode icon.

    • If Wi-Fi or Cellular is enabled, and there are no exclamation marks or warning signs, you likely have an active internet connection.

  3. Browser check:

    • Open Safari or any other browser on your iPhone.

    • Try to load a webpage. If the webpage loads successfully, you have an active internet connection.

On Android devices

  1. Quick settings check:

    • Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings.

    • Look for the Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, or Airplane Mode icon.

    • If Wi-Fi or Mobile Data is enabled, and there are no warning signs, you likely have an active internet connection.

  2. Settings check:

    • Open the Settings app on your Android device.

    • Tap on Connections or Network & internet.

    • Check if Wi-Fi or Mobile Data is toggled on and connected to a network.

  3. Browser check:

    • Open Google Chrome or any other browser on your Android device.

    • Try to load a webpage. If the webpage loads successfully, you have an active internet connection.

Solution 2: Restart the 8seats app

On iOS devices

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and let go to view all open apps.

  • Find the 8seats app and swipe it upwards to close it.

  • Locate the 8seats app icon on your device and tap it to re-open the app.

On Android devices

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and let go to view all open apps.

  • If you’re on Android Go with 3-button navigation, tap the ||| Recent Apps button.

  • Find the 8seats app and swipe it upwards to close it.

  • Locate the 8seats app icon on your device and tap it to re-open the app.

Solution 3: Sign out, then sign back into your account

  • Open the menu by tapping on the Profile icon on the top left corner of any of the main screens.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap “Sign out on this device”.

  • You will be take back to the sign in screen – now tap the “Sign in” button.

  • Sign in using your mobile phone number.

  • Enter the one time password you receive via SMS to access your account.

Solution 4: Re-install the 8seats app

On iOS devices

  • Long hold on the 8seats app icon on your device and tap “Remove App”.

  • Go to the App Store and download and install the app again.

  • Sign in using your mobile phone number.

  • Enter the one time password you receive via SMS to access your account.

On Android devices

  • Long hold on the 8seats app icon on your device and tap “Remove App”.

  • Go to the App Store and download and install the app again.

  • Sign in using your mobile phone number.

  • Enter the one time password you receive via SMS to access your account.
